The selection of candidates for key positions in the Donald Trump administration inspires optimism in the cryptosphere.

In particular, it is assumed that Howard Lutnik, the head of the financial company Cantor Fitzgerald, will take over the post of Minister of Commerce. Lutnik is known for his positive attitude towards cryptocurrency, and his company Cantor Fitzgerald in 2021 became the custodian of Tether Treasury bonds used to secure stablecoins. Cantor Fitzgerald has launched a loan program for bitcoin owners, in which the company plans to invest $2 billion.

Trump's team is also considering the candidacy of Teresa Goody Guillen, a lawyer and blockchain expert, for the post of head of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Guillen has worked for the SEC in the past and represented the interests of blockchain companies in litigation with the regulator.

Trump promised to «first of all fire» the current chairman of the SEC, Gary Gensler, whom he criticizes for excessive regulation of the crypto industry. Trump is looking for a business-oriented candidate who is ready for a more restrained attitude towards digital assets. Guillen, according to colleagues, may be a suitable candidate for this position.
